Bryson nearly blacked out 'numerous times' in speed-training sessions
In his neverending pursuit of more distance, Bryson DeChambeau spent the December break speed training with World Long Drive champion Kyle Berkshire.
"A lot of it has to do with pushing the limits of your body and going for long hours of swinging your golf club with a golf ball and trying to help up the ball speed," DeChambeau said about what he learned.
DeChambeau added that he asked Berkshire how far he pushes his body during training.
"And he said, 'Until I blackout,'" DeChambeau said.
So, that's how far the two of them tried to push themselves.
DeChambeau admitted to never experiencing a full blackout but said they both came very close "numerous times."
"There was times where I was seeing a tunnel and I had to stop," he said. "I mean, you just have to stop. That's about when you stop. There's a lot to it."
The work is already paying off. DeChambeau recorded a ball speed of 211 mph on the range at Kapalua, host of the Tournament of Champions. He also cracked 200 mph on the final hole of his practice round.
However, he has yet to break 200 mph during a competitive round.
