Thomas builds 2-shot lead at Workday Charity Open with 3rd-round 66
Justin Thomas posted a superb 6-under 66 on Saturday at the Workday Charity Open to carry a two-shot lead over Viktor Hovland into the final round.
The world No. 5 remains bogey-free for the week at Muirfield Village Golf Club after another remarkable short-game performance. Thomas is a perfect 12-for-12 in scrambling and ranks fourth in strokes gained: around the green through three rounds.
If he's able to close out the event on Sunday, Thomas will join Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Rory McIlroy as the only players in the last 40 years to collect 13 PGA Tour wins before the age of 28, according to 15th Club's Justin Ray.
Hovland recorded a 6-under 66 of his own to lead the chase of Thomas. The 23-year-old will need to erase a two-shot deficit to claim his second PGA Tour title.
Collin Morikawa, who led by three after 36 holes, struggled alongside Thomas in the final group during Round 3. He shot an even-par 72 with a birdie on the final hole to drop three shots off the pace.

Sunday's final round was moved up due to the likelihood of inclement weather later in the day. Groups will tee off in threesomes off Nos. 1 and 10 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET.
