The Outlaw Tour, one of the few minor-league circuits operating while the PGA Tour is on its hiatus, disqualified 14 golfers from its event Monday after numerous groups played from the wrong tee.

The infractions occurred when there was a backup on the par-3 third at Verrado Golf Club, according to Golf Channel's Ryan Lavner. The scorecard listed the hole at 222 yards, but tournament officials set the hole at 207 yards for Round 1 using the designated Outlaw Tour markers.

The club hosted public play both before and after the 60-man tournament, however, so a set of the course's usual tee markers were set up at the farthest tee deck - from which professionals typically play - at 234 yards. Five consecutive groups played from the farthest tee blocks instead of the ones set at 207 yards.

Players in one group eventually noticed the threesome ahead had played from the wrong tees and informed the trio. Only Connor Blick replayed the hole and was not disqualified. Instead, he was assessed a two-shot penalty under Rule 6.1b.

The 60-player field was cut down to 44 after Round 1 of the three-day event in Arizona. In addition to the disqualifications, two other players withdrew.

Jesse Burghart, who operates the Outlaw Tour events, stood by his decision to disqualify a large portion of the field.

T.J. Vogel, who has played in 12 PGA Tour events and was the betting favorite to win this week's Outlaw Tour event, was one of the players disqualified.
