After shooting an opening-round 72 in Round 1 of the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods revealed that an illness forced him to skip Wednesday's practice round at Bethpage Black.

"I wasn't feeling that good yesterday, so I decided to stay home and rest," Woods said, according to Golf Channel's Will Gray. "I got a little bit sick, so I decided to stay home."

Tiger only played nine holes on Tuesday after going through an 18-hole practice round at Bethpage Black last week.

Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, had said his client was "all good" and was "just getting some rest" when questioned about the golfer's absence on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old took more than a month off to rest after winning the Masters. He showed signs of rust on Thursday at the PGA Championship, carding three bogeys and two doubles. However, he salvaged his round with three birdies and an eagle to shoot 2-over.

Woods sits nine shots back of the early leader, Brooks Koepka. His second round will begin Friday at 1:49 p.m. ET.
