Snedeker leads Mickelson by 3 after 36 holes at Safeway Open
Brandt Snedeker fired a second-round 65 en route to the solo lead heading into the weekend at the Safeway Open, with Phil Mickelson among the group three shots behind.
Snedeker's 7-under round at Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif. follows a 66 on Thursday, putting him at 13-under for the event. He's in the hunt for his second PGA Tour win in two months after claiming the Wyndham Championship in the middle of August.
Mickelson carded a 3-under 69 in Round 2, a day after admitting his game is not sharp and that he's battling exhaustion from last week's Ryder Cup. He reiterated his struggles after Friday's round, telling Golf Channel he's "cautiously optimistic" about his outlook for the weekend.
Ryan Moore is also at 13-under after shooting a pair of 67s.
The shot of the day belonged to Patrick Cantlay (7-under), as he threw some serious spin on the ball for a hole-out eagle from 83 yards.
