How Bubba fought back to claim the Travelers Championship

Bubba Watson picked up his third career Travelers Championship win Sunday, shooting 63 in the final round to come from six shots back and claim victory at TPC River Highlands.

By picking up his 12th career PGA Tour win, Bubba is projected to sit 12th in the Official World Golf Rankings after beginning 2018 ranked 89th.

Here are the three driving forces behind Bubba's Travelers Championship win.

A pair of 63s

Winning and going low are two of Bubba's specialties at TPC River Highlands. He carded 7-under 63s in Round 2 and 4 to post two of the event's seven lowest rounds. He gained over three strokes putting en route to his 63 in Round 2, a fantastic rebound after an opening-round 70. In the final stage, Watson was dynamite in all facets, gaining 4.2 strokes tee-to-green. Bubba has now shot 63 or better at TPC River Highlands five times.

Par 4 prowess

As with any par-70 course, par-4 scoring is crucial. Bubba gained a stunning 11.31 strokes on par 4s for the week, according to Data Golf. His most impressive run came - not surprisingly - on the back nine Sunday. Watson birdied four of the six par 4s down the stretch - including the difficult 10th and 12th - to seal his victory. The 39-year-old played the par 4s at an incredible 11-under for the tournament.

Paul Casey's gift

This was Paul Casey's tournament to lose, and boy did he ever lose it. Casey entered Sunday's final round with a four-shot lead, and six better than Watson. In hindsight, Casey only needed to shoot 68 to win. Instead, he sprayed the ball all day, losing over three strokes off the tee and had his worst putting performance of the week. The Englishman has now failed to win three out of four times when leading after three rounds and is the second player to lose a 54-hole lead of four or more shots this season.
