DJ listed as heavy favorite after opening-round 69
Dustin Johnson entered Thursday as the favorite to win the U.S. Open, and the 2016 Champion continues to hold that distinction after an opening-round 69 left him in a four-way tie for the lead.
Johnson's 1-under total left him standing alongside Ian Poulter, Scott Piercy, and Russell Henley for top spot, and the oddsmakers have listed him at 5-2 to win his second career major.
Despite their standing, the co-leaders don't follow Johnson on the betting board, as Justin Rose, who sits two strokes back at 1-over, is listed at 11-2, while Henrik Stenson is 12-1 at the same score.
Poulter is next at 16-1, and Rickie Fowler rounds out the top-5 at 18-1, sitting four shots off the pace at 3-over.

Weather conditions are set to improve Friday with the wind dying down, so players that aren't near the top of the betting board could vault back into contention with a strong round.
