Mickelson wouldn't be surprised if Tiger 'one-upped' him again this week
Much of Phil Mickelson's storied golf career has been spent in the shadows of Tiger Woods. He'd arguably be the best player of his era if Woods never came along.
Though Woods' latest comeback is still relatively fresh, Mickelson wouldn't be surprised if he once again found a way to steal the spotlight from him a week after he won his first tournament since 2013 at the WGC-Mexico Championship.
"Tiger's always gone out and one-upped me for my entire career," Mickelson said on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Thursday, according to Golf.com. "So it wouldn't surprise me if he won this week."
Mickelson is no stranger to finishing right behind Woods in big moments. He's placed in the top four in four of his major victories, including a second-place finish at the 2002 U.S. Open - the only major Lefty has yet to capture.
Woods is taking part in the Valspar Championship this week, while Mickelson is not.
