Mickelson, Garcia among notables to miss PGA Championship cut
For the first time since 1995, the PGA Championship won't feature Phil Mickelson on the weekend.
The 47-year-old veteran missed the cut at the event for only the second time in his career after struggling to rounds of 79 and 74 around a challenging Quail Hollow track. That left him well off the cut-line and crashing out of his second straight major championship.
Mickelson has experienced incredible success at Quail Hollow throughout his career, but was unable to replicate it around the remodeled layout this time around.
He wasn't the only big name to struggle as Masters champion Sergio Garcia also won't be playing the weekend after two rounds of 75. Last year's winner Jimmy Walker improved his first-round 81 by 12 strokes with a 69, but won't be around to defend his title this weekend in Charlotte.
