Chamblee on Tiger's WD: 'He needs to change his golf swing'
Tiger Woods withdrew from the Dubai Desert Classic early Friday, citing back spasms.
Woods returned to golf, after a 17-month layoff, last week at the Farmers Insurance Open - where he failed to play the weekend. The 14-time major winner has missed the cut seven times and been forced to withdraw four times since 2014.
One of Tiger's biggest critics, Brandel Chamblee of the Golf Channel said Woods "looked like an old man," after Thursday's 5-over-par 77. On Friday, Chamblee, a former PGA Tour player, interjected on what he feels the problem is.
"There's trends here," said Chamblee. "Surgery, followed by rehab, followed by re-injury. So it's clear to me, he's causing himself further harm with his golf swing."
Woods has changed his swing over his career and also implemented intense off-course workouts, that many believe have promoted injury over the years.
"It's pretty clear to me, that the one commonality is the golf swing hasn't changed, he continues to re-injure himself. So, in my opinion, he needs to change his swing before he's ever going to have a sustained period of health."
After a long list on injuries over his career, and the gap between starts increasing, many have wondered if this is the end of Woods' career.
"Maybe this is it though, maybe this is the end of his career. There are so many 'what ifs'?" said Chamblee.
