Germany's Olympic gaffer Horst Hrubesch has criticised Arsenal for not giving Serge Gnabry a chance at first-team football after yet another stellar performance at Rio 2016.

Gnabry scored his third goal in two matches with a late equaliser Sunday against Japan in a 3-3 draw to lead all scorers with a treble of tallies, and Hrubesch reckons he deserves a shot with the north London giant.

"He's shown what he can do to everybody," Hrubesch offered. "I'm just annoyed that he is never shown this faith by his club."

Easier said than done, as a serious injury was paired with an inconsequential loan move to West Brom, where the 21-year-old winger made a fleeting 12-minute appearance.

There's also the matter of a logjam of wingers at Arsenal.

Faced with the prospects of vaulting ahead of Aaron Ramsey, Joel Campbell, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain another loan may be in Gnabry's future if he's looking for first-team opportunities.

Regardless of his situation with club, his performance for country has been astounding.

"He's our saviour," said Borussia Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter.

With his contract at Arsenal set to expire at season's end, Gnabry appears focused on the Olympics for the time being.

"I'm just trying to help my team - that's what I'm here for."

Sitting third in Group C on two points, two adrift of joint-leaders South Korea and Mexico, Germany faces Fiji on Wednesday needing to win by a five-goal margin in the event the other match ends in a draw, which would put three sides on five points.
