Canada women's national basketball team is heading to the 2024 Olympics.

Despite being edged 86-82 by Japan, Canada secured a spot after Hungary blew a 22-point lead and lost to Spain 73-72 in the final qualifying game.

The Canadians couldn't contain their joy when the final whistle blew between Hungary and Spain.

The win marks the first time that both the men's and women's programs have made it to the Olympics since 2000.

Alongside the French hosts, 10 teams have claimed a place in the 2024 Games: Japan, Canada, Spain, Australia, Nigeria, Belgium, Puerto Rico, China, and the United States.

Germany, Serbia, and Brazil are all vying for the final two spots. Sunday night's games will determine which teams snag them.

The United States will look to claim a record 10th gold medal at the upcoming games.

The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris between July 26 and Aug. 11.
