Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal has committed to joining Team USA at the Summer Games in Tokyo, sources told The Athletic's Joe Vardon and Shams Charania.

Beal is the fourth star to commit to USA Basketball after Damian Lillard, Draymond Green, and Jayson Tatum.

The Wizards shooting guard has never represented the U.S. at the Olympics. The three-time All-Star declined to join the 2016 Olympic team in Rio de Janeiro after being invited to play.

He suited up for Team USA at the FIBA World U17 Championship in 2010 and the U16 side at the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship, winning gold in both competitions.

Following Tatum's commitment Tuesday, there was reported optimism within USA Basketball that Beal would follow suit to play for head coach Gregg Popovich this summer. Tatum and Beal are both St. Louis natives and longtime friends.

Beal (31.3) finished less than a point per game behind Stephen Curry (32) for the league's scoring title during the regular season. He led the Wizards to the playoffs as the Eastern Conference's eighth seed, but they fell in five games to the Philadelphia 76ers in the opening round.
