Malcolm Subban was reassigned to the AHL's Providence Bruins in a corresponding move.
Gustavsson left in the first period of a game on Jan. 26 against the Anaheim Ducks after experiencing an elevated heart rate.
The 31-year-old has a history of cardiac issues, having previously underwent procedures to deal with irregular heartbeats.
In 15 games this season, he has a 9-3-1 record with a 2.38 GAA and .915 save percentage.
