Mike Gillis' next job won't be with the front office of an NHL franchise. It'll be as a university teacher.
The former general manager of the Vancouver Canucks will teach a sports law course at the University of Victoria, reports Matt Kieltyka of Metro News.
Gillis - who was named GM of the year in 2011 - was fired by the Canucks in April of 2014 and will teach the class alongside Vancouver lawyer Peter Gall.
The university's course description says students will focus "on the operation of sports leagues and the legal and business relationships between leagues, teams, players, agents and unions," as well as have the opportunity to take part in a mock salary arbitration.
