Let the summer trades begin!

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired center Zach Hyman and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2017 from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Greg McKegg, the team announced Friday.

Toronto has until Aug. 15 to get Hyman under contract, but appear to have a jump-start on negotiations. TSN's Bob McKenzie reports the Maple Leafs already have the framework in place for a two-year, entry-level deal.

Hyman, 23, was drafted 123rd overall by the Panthers in 2010, but failed to come to terms on an entry-level deal with the club.

He scored 22 goals and added 32 assists in 37 games this past season for the University of Michigan.

McKegg, also 23, was selected in the third round of the 2010 draft by Toronto, recording 50 goals and 58 assists in 190 games with the club's AHL affiliate.
