The Philadelphia Flyers' newest father will be absent for Thursday's game against the Calgary Flames.
Matt Read, whose wife gave birth to the couple's first child Tuesday, will miss his second game to be with his family.
Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media believes Read should return Saturday when the Flyers take on the Edmonton Oilers.
In Read's place, Nick Cousins will play his second career game. Miller suggests that both Read and Cousins could be in the lineup Saturday, likely making Vincent Lecavalier the odd man out.
Read has seven goals and 27 points in 71 games this season.
