Panthers' Ekblad ties team record for goals by a rookie defenseman
Brad Mills / USA Today
Last season's first overall draft selection Aaron Ekblad is having a phenomenal rookie season that's put him in contention for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
The 19-year-old defenseman continued to impress Sunday, tying Florida Panthers great Ed Jovanovski for first all-time among Panthers rookie defensemen in goals with his 10th of the season.
Jovanovski hit the mark in 1995-96 and hasn't played a game in the NHL since his contract was bought out by the Panthers in 2014.
