Sabres suspend Zadorov for failing to report after All-Star break
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Nikita Zadorov has been suspended for failing to report to the team on time following the All-Star break, the team announced Monday.
General manager Tim Murray indicated the suspension will not be lengthy, and head coach Ted Nolan said Zadorov's tardiness was travel-related.
"What can you do? Travel issues sometimes get in the way," Nolan said. "It is what it is."
Zadorov's agent, Rolland Hedges, told Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times-Herald that his client's flight back from the Dominican Republic was oversold by six people.
"He's upset," Hedges said.
When asked what was done to try to get the blue-liner home in time, Hedges replied with one word: "Everything."
Zadorov is on his way back to Buffalo and will then join his teammates in Calgary, where the Sabres will play the Flames on Tuesday night.
The 16th-overall pick in 2013 has recorded two goals and six assists while averaging 19:30 in 34 games.
