The Buffalo Sabres have benefited enormously from the other worldly goaltending provided by a pair of talented, young pending unrestricted free agents in Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth in recent weeks.
Though acquiring Enroth or Neuvirth would presumably be of interest to a variety of teams around the league, Sabres general manager Tim Murray is insisting that he isn't active in trade talks involving his netminders at this point.
"As a matter of fact, Tim Murray said he has not had calls about his goaltenders," reported Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman during an intermission segment on Saturday night.
Friedman also alluded to rumors - denied by both teams - of trade talks between the Minnesota Wild and the Sabres involving Enroth.
While both teams apparently told Friedman that there was nothing to those rumors, such a deal would make sense. The Wild's goaltenders, after all, rank 25th in the NHL with a .900 save percentage. In the rough and tumble Central Division, goaltending that porous could cause an otherwise very good Wild team to miss the postseason.
