As expected, the Anaheim Ducks have sent goaltender John Gibson to the AHL after activating him from injured reserve Wednesday.
Gibson was reassigned to the Norfolk Admirals about seven weeks after suffering a groin injury, the team announced.
The 21-year-old netminder was expected to spend the remainder of the season with the Admirals upon returning to full health.
Forward Emerson Etem was recalled in a corresponding move.
The Ducks signed veteran Ilya Bryzgalov to serve as Frederik Andersen's backup with Gibson sidelined.
