Penguins' reveal Letang has a groin injury and place him on injured reserve
The Pittsburgh Penguins revealed Tuesday that the lower-body injury ailing top defenseman Kris Letang is actually a groin injury. The team has placed him on injured reserve.
Letang was listed as day-to-day, though his being placed on injured reserve suggests that he may be out somewhat longer than that.
The 27-year-old offensive-minded defender has played top-pairing minutes for the Penguins at even-strength and is a critical contributor on the Penguins' potent first power-play unit. In 22 games this season he has scored four goals and contributed 18 total points.
