The San Jose Sharks have found their emergency backup.
The team has signed local goaltender Ryan Lowe to a professional tryout agreement, the Sharks announced Wednesday.
Lowe is a 31-year-old San Jose native who last played professionally in Australia, and last played in North America with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL for a single game in 2007-08.
The Sharks needed to make the move because Alex Stalock remains out with a knee injury and Troy Grosenick suffered an upper-body injury in practice Tuesday.
