Bruins' Zdeno Chara still healing from postseason hand injury
Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara could receive the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman on Tuesday night, but he may grimace slightly while lifting the award.
Chara revealed on Monday that the broken pinky on his left hand, suffered from a slash in Game 3 of the team's series against the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the gash on the ring finger of his left hand, suffered from a slash in Game 5 of that same series, still haven't fully healed.
“It’s good." Chara said, via the Boston Herald. "It’s healed and we’re still looking to get the full feeling. It should be something that we stay on top of and it’ll get better.”
Chara was asked if surgery was still a possibility.
“I don’t think so." Chara said. "At the end of the year, we just cleaned the whole wound out and made sure there was no infection risk. We closed it and that was it. . . . I think there might have been slight damage to the nerve, but it’s something that isn’t affecting me. . . . Hopefully, it’ll be fully recovered.”
Chara also went on to say that he doesn't believe that the injury affected him in the series with the Canadiens.
“It didn’t." Chara said. "It was one of those things that was a little bit uncomfortable holding the stick or shooting, but it didn’t affect me,”
