Canadian Tire Centre Vision first of its kind in Canadian NHL venues
The Ottawa Senators have embarked on a very expensive project to bring the best quality footage and best experience to their fans when at Canadian Tire Centre. The project titled Canadian Tire Centre Vision will see 700 HD screens installed in the venue to enhance the fan's visit.
Senators President Cyril Leeder spoke to media Friday afternoon and released details of the project.
"We've been working at it for two years now to get it to the point where we can launch it. You'll see the screens light up as of Saturday — in the main lobby (of Gate 1) you'll see some activity. It's a 700 screen install so it's going to take a few weeks but sometime in the New Year we'll have them all done.
"First of all, [fans will] be able to catch the action any time they're out of their seat. We hear all the time "I had to go to the washroom, I had to go to the concessions, I had to go to the store — I don't want to miss anything." For sure they'll get that. We'll be able to deliver Twitter feeds, content, live stats, we'll be able to give them warnings when the intermission is about to end so they can get back to their seats in time for the start of the period, the 50/50 — we'll be able to announce where the jackpot is at. It'll be real time, live updates for fans." Quotes via Chris Lund
The system the Senators are installing is similar to that of the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings. The Senators are the first Canadian team to install the expensive and intricate system. How much will it cost? $5 million which will be paid by investors and sponsorship.
