Avalanche sign Malinski to 4-year extension

The Colorado Avalanche signed pending unrestricted free-agent defenseman Sam Malinski to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Malinski's new contract will carry an average annual value of $4.75 million, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The 27-year-old is having a breakout season, with 24 points in 50 games despite playing third-pairing minutes. He entered the campaign with 25 points in 99 career games.
The Avalanche signed Malinski as an undrafted free agent in 2023 following a standout NCAA career at Cornell.
