The 34-year-old veteran has enjoyed a stellar campaign, leading all Maple Leafs defensemen with 31 points in 50 games and ranking third on the team in average time on ice entering Wednesday.
Ekman-Larsson was named to Sweden's Olympic team in January.
The Maple Leafs have already been without defenseman Chris Tanev since December, with no indication that he's nearing a return.
