Bruins sign Geekie to 6-year, $33M extension

The Boston Bruins signed forward Morgan Geekie to a six-year extension carrying an average annual value of $5.5 million, the team announced Sunday.

Geekie was set to be a restricted free agent on July 1. He's coming off a breakout season in which he finished second on the Bruins in goals (33) and points (57) in 77 games.

The 26-year-old potted 17 goals the year prior, his first in Boston. He managed just 22 goals in 180 contests during the first four campaigns of his NHL career with the Carolina Hurricanes and Seattle Kraken.

Geekie found a home at left wing on the Bruins' top line with Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak last season. He primarily played center before slotting in alongside Pastrnak and Zacha.

The Bruins have $16.6 million remaining in cap space after the signing. Jakub Lauko and John Beecher are their remaining RFAs, while their pending unrestricted free agents include Cole Koepke, Parker Wotherspoon, and Henri Jokiharju.
