Switzerland put an end to Denmark's Cinderella run at the IIHF World Hockey Championship on Saturday, cruising to a 7-0 victory in the semifinals.

The Swiss will play the United States in Sunday's gold-medal game. Denmark, which beat Canada in the quarters, will face Sweden for bronze in an attempt to earn its first medal at the tournament.

Switzerland is looking to capture its first gold medal at the tournament. The team has won four silver medals, including in 2024, when it lost to Czechia in the gold-medal game.

Nino Niederreiter was a force for the Swiss, scoring two of the its three goals in the opening period. Ken Jager added the other in the opening frame, while Denis Malgin scored the lone goal of the second period to make it 4-0. Sandro Schmid, Damien Riat, and Tyler Moy tallied in the third.

Swiss national team veteran Leonardo Genoni was stellar in the crease, making 17 saves in the shutout.
