Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel announced forward Mark Scheifele will play in Saturday's Game 6 against the Dallas Stars despite the unexpected death of his father, Brad, on Friday night, according to The Athletic's Murat Ates.
Arniel added Scheifele said this is what his dad would've wanted.
Scheifele has registered 10 points in 10 contests this postseason, including a goal and an assist in Winnipeg's critical Game 5 victory on home ice. He missed Games 6 and 7 of the first round due to injury.
The 32-year-old notched a career-high 87 points in the regular season.
Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Winnipeg trails its series with the Stars 3-2.
