Colton Gillies invited to Sabres training camp
Colton Gillies has been invited to Buffalo Sabres training camp, according to the team's official website.
The 24-year old forward was drafted 16th overall in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Minnesota Wild, but has scored only six goals and 12 assists in 154 career games with the Wild and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Gillies appeared in 27 games for Columbus in 2013, registering one goal and one assist.
At 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds, Gillies' size compliments a skill set that allowed him to rack up 47 points in 58 games during his final year in the Western Hockey League; both may serve him well on a rebuilding Sabres team.
