Bruins acquire Ritchie from Ducks for Heinen
The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Nick Ritchie from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Danton Heinen, the team announced Monday.
Ritchie plays a feisty style of hockey and should slot into a bottom-six role with Boston. The 24-year-old has recorded eight goals and 19 points across 41 games in 2019-20.
Heinen, meanwhile, has been with the Bruins since being drafted 116th overall in 2014. After recording a career-high 47 points in 2017-18, his production dropped to 34 points 2018-19 and then 22 in 58 games this season.
Ritchie is joining his brother Brett in the Bruins organization. He's also coming off a four-point outing on Sunday, his final game with the Ducks.
Boston currently sits first in the Eastern Conference standings with 90 points.
