Kinkaid made his first NHL appearance Tuesday, replacing Johan Hedberg with the Devils down 3-0 in what turned out to be a 5-2 loss to the Lightning. He stopped 12 of 13 shots.

Kinkaid hasn't exactly been impenetrable for AHL Albany, as he's got a .905 save mark there -- not much different from the .904 he put up last year. The undrafted netminder isn't a high-upside prospect, but there seems to be a reasonable chance he'll start Thursday if Martin Brodeur isn't ready then.
