The defending Stanley Cup champions have re-stocked their depth up front and on the back end.

The Penguins have re-signed defenseman Derrick Pouliot to a one-year contract worth $800,000 and forward Josh Archibald to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $675,000, the team announced. Both contracts are of the one-way variety.

Pouliot, the former eighth overall pick in 2012, played just 11 games total with Pittsburgh last season, but could have a chance to compete for more playing time this coming season with the departures of Trevor Daley and Ron Hainsey, and the seemingly never-ending health concerns of Kris Letang. The 23-year-old has 70 points in 114 career games in the AHL.

Archibald, 24, played in just 10 games with Pittsburgh during the regular season, but added four more in the postseason, including Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, and therefore has his name etched in hockey history. With a surplus of talented wingers on the Penguins, Archibald will have to play his way into the lineup on a routine basis.

The Pens still have two notable restricted free agents who have yet to sign extensions: Brian Dumoulin and Conor Sheary. The club has a little over $11 million in cap room, according to Cap Friendly.
