Predators' Kevin Fiala: Missing remainder of postseason

Fiala underwent surgery to repair a fractured femur Thursday and will be out for the rest of the season.

Analysis:

The Swiss forward suffered the injury in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Blues, when St. Louis defenseman Robert Bortuzzo checked him in to the endboards after Fiala released a shot and was traveling at high speed. A first-round pick in 2014, Fiala is a highly skilled forward who notched two goals in Nashville's sweep of Chicago; his presence will be sorely missed by the Preds. Expect either Craig Smith or Calle Jarnkrok to enter the lineup in Fiala's place for Game 2 on Friday.
