Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Reassigned to Swedish Hockey league
Eriksson Ek was loaned to Farjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League on Thursday.
Analysis:
It's rare for players to be assigned to foreign clubs mid-season, but in this case, Eriksson Ek must play out the remainder of Farjestad's campaign before he'd be eligible to return to the Wild. The Swedish club's match schedule runs through early February, so that is the earliest we should expect the two-way forward back, and that's only if they miss the tournament that follows the regular season. And even after all that, the Wild may simply choose to keep his contract clock stopped until next season, as he's already played nine games with the team. Eriksson Ek showed well for Minnesota, scoring two goals with three assists in nine games, though all of the points were had in a four-game stretch.
