The Washington Capitals used the 28th overall pick at the 2016 NHL Draft on Kelowna Rockets defenseman Lucas Johansen.

His selection comes after the Capitals moved down two positions on the draft board in a trade with the St. Louis Blues in order to gain a third-round pick.

The brother of Nashville Predators forward Ryan Johansen, Lucas is sound in a positional sense and quite competent with the puck, but is hardly a gifted skater.

He will have to improve in this capacity to make it to the next level.
