After playing coy at the morning skate, Dallas Stars head coach Lindy Ruff tabbed Niemi his starter Tuesday night prior to Game 3 against the St. Louis Blues.
Kari Lehtonen started Game 2 on Sunday, but was pulled after allowing three goals on five shots.
Niemi stopped 19 of 20 shots in the Stars' overtime loss.
