Report: Marcus Vick charged with assault on law enforcement officer
Former NFL quarterback Marcus Vick was arrested and charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer, among other charges, in Newport News, Va., according to multiple reports.
Vick also faces charges of obstruction of justice, destruction of property, and resisting arrest.
Police attempted to arrest Vick on a previous contempt of court charge in Montgomery County, Va., and the 32-year-old allegedly tried to flee, pushing the officer away. Moreover, Vick allegedly damaged a door while trying to escape and was taken into police custody shortly afterwards.
Vick is due back in court on Thursday.
This isn't Vick's first clash with the law. Vick was charged with one count of disorderly conduct after displaying a gun in a McDonald's in 2006. The former Virginia Tech standout was also arrested for driving under the influence several times.
Vick is the younger brother of four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick. He briefly suited up for the Miami Dolphins in 2006 but was not retained after the season, and did not play professionally again, with his off-the-field indiscretions weighing in heavily.
