The Cleveland Browns will release wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on Wednesday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Bowe signed a two-year, $9-million contract with the Browns last March. He was active for just seven games last season, catching fives passes for 53 yards.

The 31-year-old spent eight seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before joining Cleveland. He has 13 touchdowns over the past five seasons after scoring 15 in 2010 alone.

He would likely have to take a major pay cut for a team to consider signing him before next season.

The Browns also cut veteran linebacker Karlos Dansby on Wednesday.
