Chargers, Brandon Mebane agree on 3-year contract worth reported $13.5M
The San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with defensive tackle Brandon Mebane on a three-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Although the team didn't release financial terms of the contract, Mebane signed a deal worth up to $13.5 million with $5.5 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
Mebane is considered by some to be one of the league's premier run-stoppers and will be a welcome addition to a Chargers team that allowed the 27th-most rushing yards per game.
The veteran defensive lineman recorded 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 15 games with the Seattle Seahawks last season.
Mebane spent the first nine years of his career with the Seahawks, and was one of the most underrated members of the club's dominant defense, helping the team capture Super Bowl XLVIII.
