Report: Vikings, Loadholt agree to restructured 1-year contract

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a restructured one-year contract with offensive tackle Phil Loadholt, according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP Minnesota.

Coming off a 2015 season lost entirely to injury, the 30-year-old's $7.75-million salary-cap hit made him a candidate for release ahead of free agency.

The new deal, reportedly worth $2 million, instead allows him to return to the team and potentially re-establish himself as the starter at right tackle going forward.

Loadholt held that role for six seasons after first joining Minnesota as a second-round pick in 2009. He'll now presumably compete with 2015 fourth-rounder T.J. Clemmings in training camp.
