Report: Chargers to focus on possible Keenan Allen extension after draft

Jake Roth / USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Chargers are expected to address a possible contract extension for wide receiver Keenan Allen, but only after the draft concludes, according to Michael Gehlken of The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Allen is expected to be a strong candidate for an extension after recording 67 receptions for 725 yards and eight touchdowns over eight games in 2015. However, the burgeoning star also missed eight games due to a kidney injury.

“We're going to concentrate right now on our impending free agents and potential outside free agents," Chargers general manager Tom Telesco said last week. "Then the draft, and we'll go from there."

Allen is the best player to come out of the Chargers' 2013 draft haul, which also included offensive tackle D.J. Fluker, linebacker Manti Te'o, cornerback Steve Williams, and defensive end Tourek Williams.
