Report: Redskins' latest offer to Kirk Cousins around $15M per year
Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was offered a contract that would pay him $15 million per year, but declined, according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo.
Cousins was originally offered around $12.5 million per year, and the Redskins upped their offer to no avail, per Garafolo.
It was reported Friday that the Redskins will apply the franchise or transition tag to Cousins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
If the Redskins apply the franchise tag, Cousins will be paid just short of $20 million next season.
Cousins is coming off a career year, where he completed a league-high 69.8 percent of his passes for 4,166 yards, 29 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
In the unlikely event Cousins hits the open market, he'd be the best quarterback available in this summer's class.
