The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a restructured contract with veteran linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, according to Katherine Terrell of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Terms of the reworked deal have not yet been disclosed, but Ellerbe was one of many candidates for such an adjustment given the Saints' dire salary-cap situation.
Entering the second year of a three-year deal he signed upon joining the Saints in a trade last offseason, Ellerbe was slated to count $5.9 million against the salary cap.
Injuries limited the 30-year-old to just six games throughout his debut season with the Saints, in which he recorded 39 tackles and one pass defensed.
