Report: Eagles sign Vinny Curry to 5-year, $46.25M extension
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive end Vinny Curry to a five-year, $46.25-million contract extension, according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.
Breer originally reported the deal's base salary to be worth $47.25 million, but has since corrected it.
The extension includes $23 million in guarantees.
Curry has racked up 16.5 sacks over the past three seasons, peaking in 2014 with nine as a nonstarter. The deal projects a much larger role for Curry in incoming defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz's unit.
The Eagles have been extending the pacts of core players currently under contract since the beginning of the offseason. Offensive tackle Lane Johnson and tight ends Zach Ertz and Brent Celek have already inked fairly lucrative extensions, while defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is expected to sign soon.
