New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie dodged a major bullet.

The knee injury suffered by Cromartie in Sunday's season opener is not a torn ACL as initially feared, but is merely a knee sprain, the team announced.

"They told me week-to-week. I don't know what that means, whether it's this week or next week," Jets head coach Todd Bowles said in his press conference Monday. "I'm going to wait and see how he heals. Until I see him running I don't have a time table on him."

Considering how bad the injury looked, this is great news for the Jets.

Non-contact, knee hyperextension away from ball. Fear on Antonio Cromartie dreaded 3 letters, starts with A.

"Considering the way he went down I was very relieved. It looked like it was an ACL and he was sitting over there with a towel on his head, I didn't know what happened. So, I'm glad it wasn't (his ACL)," Bowles said.

Cromartie has't been ruled out for the Jets' next game Monday against the Indianapolis Colts.
