The New York Jets restructured the contract of veteran kicker Nick Folk to create some much-needed salary cap space ahead of their Week 1 game, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The agreement converts $1.78 million of Folk's $2.5 million base salary into a signing bonus, resulting in $1.19 million in additional cap space for the 2015 season.

It's nothing more than a standard reallocation of salary to create short-term relief, but the additional flexibility will allow the Jets to make minor roster moves as needed in the weeks ahead.
