Report: Dolphins' Branden Albert to open camp on active roster

Miami Dolphins left tackle Branden Albert's textbook recovery from a major knee injury is nearly complete.

Albert will begin training camp on the active roster, rather than the PUP list, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

It's likely the Dolphins will ease Albert into practice, but it's an encouraging sign for a team that sorely needs Albert's steadying presence on the line. After Albert ruptured his ACL and MCL in Week 9 last season, the Dolphins conceded 26 sacks in the final seven games.

Albert's return to health allows sophomore Ja'Wuan James to move to the right side, providing strong bookend tackles to help protect quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
