Report: Packers sign 1st-round pick Damarious Randall
The Green Bay Packers signed their 2015 first-round pick, safety Damarious Randall, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.
Terms of the deal were not released.
Randall was selected with the 30th overall pick out of Arizona State. A devastating hitter in the open field, Randall drew some comparisons to Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor prior to the draft.
Although he primarily played at safety during his collegiate career, the Packers drafted Randall to play cornerback, assuming his excellent recovery speed and propensity to strip the ball will translate well to his new position.
With Green Bay often deploying three defensive backs in its base formation, Randall will compete against Micah Hyde for the nickelback position, or could supplant Casey Hayward at right cornerback with an excellent training camp.
